ERA is proud to sponsor dressage rider Debra Jane Mills.
Horses: Favoloso, Milverton Angel, Kinnordy Galliano, McConaughy, Royal Seanna
Deb has been a sponsored rider with Equine Rider Accessories since 2013.
Horses have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. She grew up competing in all disciplines and regularly attended Forest Hills Pony Club with her friends. Following her University years and the influence of her friends who primarily rode Dressage, Deb decided to concentrate on this discipline too. She purchased a lovely warmblood mare “Milverton Angel” who had been trained to medium level and so the love affair with Dressage began.
Upon Angel’s retirement to become a full time mum, she successfully competed Kinnordy Galliano and McConaughy. Both horses achieved outstanding results during their competition careers with Deb and she remains very proud of their achievements. Unfortunately, Kinnordy Galliano (Gal) passed away unexpectedly at a young age, competing elementary and training medium, Deb had high hopes for his future. His scope and elasticity were unique and he was both exciting to watch and ride. McConaughy, an absolute little gem of a horse is now owned by Maddie Green and is showing her the ropes of all he knows! He was trained and competed by Deb from Preliminary to Elementary level and proved during that time just what a high achiever he is! Her main coach and strongest influence with all of her horses has been Kate Taylor Wheat.
Deb is now focusing on her main ride “Favoloso” who she both owns and competes. Bred by a friend Rayleen Thomas, she had heard about the horse for three years but it wasn’t until he was placed with Kate for a period of training that Deb first saw him. A few rides later and a couple of months down the track, she unexpectedly found herself with an exciting new horse.
Favoloso commenced his competition career in May 2015 with Deb, competing at Preliminary and Novice Level with scores of up to 75%. In 2015 he earned Warringah Dressage Association Preliminary Horse of the Year after only 6 months of competition and Northside Riding Club Preliminary Horse of the Year as well as Northside Riding Club Preliminary Champion at the 2015 Club Championship. He also had placing’s at both Preliminary and Novice Level at the 2016 NSW State Dressage Championships with scores of up to 71%.
Deb is Dressage clinic co-ordinator for Northside Riding Club and Warringah Dressage Association and runs clinics for both clubs on a regular basis with elite level riders.
Deb can be seen wearing an Equine Rider Accessories stock tie at every competition she attends and highly recommends them to all of her friends and fellow competitors.
ERA is proud to sponsor show horse rider Vanessa Traynor.
Rider: Vanessa Traynor
Discipline: Show Horse Rider
Horse: Alkyra Follow Me (Mr Foli)
Vanessa’s love of horses started at the young age of 4 years when she asked her mother if she could start riding. Starting weekly lessons at Samari Park Riding School in Terrey Hills is where her passion began.
Vanessa’s first horse at 8 years of age was a liver chestnut Galloway called Garswood Anna (Bingo). Joining pony club and competing at local shows she quickly discovered that showing horses was the discipline for her. Bingo was a fiery mare but this didn’t stop Vanessa from doing what she loved and with many wins qualified for the royal shows.
Vanessa’s next show horse was a lovely bay riding pony gelding called Wilberg The Oracle (Garth), this large pony full of character always brought home a broad sash at the Ag shows and Riding Pony Breed shows. Vanessa also decided to try her hand in pony dressage with Garth who at his first dressage competition won Prelim Dressage Horse Champion at the local championships. Garth progressed up to elementary in pony dressage and is now at 20 years young, teaching a young rider the ropes!
Vanessa’s dream show horse became a reality when she purchased Alkyra Follow Me (Foli) a yearling TB gelding by her all-time favourite Multi Royal winning show horse TB stallion Flamboyant. The love and bond between Vanessa and Foli was instant and their journey together in the show ring began.
Foli was broken to saddle and a year later started the fun and successful journey as a show hack, in his first year winning Runner Up Newcomer Hack over 15hh at the Show Horse Council Horse Of The Year amongst 35 of the best up and coming hacks in NSW. The following season winning Runner Up large hack at Pacific Coast Show Horse Championships, qualifying for Grand Nationals. Canberra Royal Show Foli placed 8th in the Novice large hack class and 6th in the Open large hack class with the first 5 horses being ridden by professionals. Foli was on a roll, winning numerous champions at Ag shows, easily qualifying for the royal shows and always in the top 10 at HOTY Championships.
At the end of 2011 Foli unfortunately had to have a year off due to injury so Vanessa and her husband took this opportunity to have a child. Not long after her beautiful baby boy Ty was born Vanessa was back in the saddle and out in the show ring.
The 2014 show season was very successful with every show attended bringing home Champion or Reserve Champion large hack easily qualifying for the 2015 Royal shows.
Vanessa has always been a passionate and dedicated rider and is quite the perfectionist, therefore loves being in the show ring.
Vanessa will be showing off the ERA stock ties and accessories in the 2015 show season at every show she attends and highly recommends them to all her fellow show horse competitors!
